UPVC / composite door locks and repairs
UPVC and composite doors usually use a multipoint lock. The most common weak point is the euro cylinder, but problems also come from door alignment, handles and the gearbox.
Common symptoms we see in Essex
- Handle lifts but won’t lock: door dropped or multipoint not engaging.
- Key stiff or won’t turn: cylinder wear, misalignment, or internal failure.
- Door won’t open even with key: gearbox/locking strip issue.
Security upgrades that actually help
- TS007 / British Standard anti-snap cylinders: reduce the risk of snapping attacks on euro cylinders.
- Correct sizing and fitting: flush cylinders are harder to attack than protruding ones.
- Servicing/alignment: keeps the mechanism running smoothly and reduces failures.
We carry a selection of British Standard cylinders (1-star to 3-star). If you’re considering an APECS AP 3-star option, the section below explains the key features in plain English.
Pricing: cylinder upgrades start from £35 + VAT (plus fitting). For a clearer guide, see prices.
Fast diagnosis: send a photo of the cylinder/handle and the door edge via contact and we’ll advise the best-value fix.
